Police Charge Another Transient With Attempted Murder

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. -- A man was flown to the hospital after being stabbed in the torso early Monday morning at Jacksonville Beach, according to police.
Jacksonville Beach police Sgt. Thomas Bingham said the stabbing happened about 3:40 a.m. on the beach about one block south of the pier.
The victim, who police have not named but said is a transient, was stabbed several times in the torso. He was airlifted to Shands-Jacksonville Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition.
Monday afternoon, police announced the arrest of Shawn Burgess, 46, on a charge of attempted murder.
Burgess, who police said is also a transient, has been arrested 49 times in Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Texas, North Carolina and Florida on charges including aggravated assault, battery, weapons violations and drugs.
