Driver Loses Control On Wet Pavement, Dies

FHP Says Box Truck He Was Driving Spun Out

POSTED: Tuesday, June 30, 2009

A man died Monday evening when he lost control of the truck he was driving on wet pavement, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Joseph L. Larue, 62, was driving a box truck on state Road 93, about two miles north of US 90 in Columbia County. The FHP report said Larue lost control of the truck on wet pavement and began to rotate and slid off the road and onto the grassy shoulder. He struck several pine trees with the left side of the truck.

Larue was pronounced dead at the scene. The FHP report said he did have his seat belt on.
