JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A group of men in Jacksonville is sick of the crime and it is trying to do something about it.
The men call themselves Guardian Angels and want to make a difference by cleaning up the streets and stopping crime.
The nonprofit organization has been around for decades, but it's new to Jacksonville and Ruben Torres said he's hoping to make a difference.
"Jacksonville has a big crime problem," said Torres.
Torres opened a Southside gym as a place where kids can go after school, work out and hang out.
"Some of these high-crime areas, they'll see the Guardian Angels and feel a little safer," Torres said.
Ginger Wright said crime has been on the rise in her usually quiet southside neighborhood and she's glad to accept any help they can get.
"I don't think it can hurt,” Wright said. “They operate under very strict guidelines and rules."
Torre's and Lind's mixed martial arts workout and fitness gym is located at 8116 Old Kings Road and offer a
