BRUNSWICK, Ga. -- Police in Brunswick, Ga., are investigating two violent daytime home invasions in two days.
In both cases, children were home, and in one of the robberies, the suspects shot and killed a family's dog.
"It's not right, it's not right," one victim, named Rebecca, said.
Her full name is not being used because the suspects are still at large.
Still shaken and still trying to comprehend why someone would invade her home, the Brunswick woman said she may never be the same.
"I thought one of the kids fell in the bathroom," she said.
But that noise was actually someone kicking in the door.
Two men, one with a handgun, threatened her and two children inside a house on Townsend Street.
"They shot my dog right next to me, and I thought I was hit because I had so much blood on me," the victim said. "I mean there's blood all in my house."
They didn't get away with much, just her purse and a cell phone, but their actions have changed her forever.
"I don't go nowhere without nobody," she said. "I don't come out of my house. I just, I just constantly have to be with somebody. I'm petrified. I don't sleep at night. I sleep maybe during the day, I hate to stay up and watch my kids cause I don't know if they're going to kick my door in again."
The attack on her home was the second in Brunswick in two days.
On Friday night, about five miles across town, two teenagers came home to find two men in their home on Aubrey Street.
Again, one suspect was armed. Both kids, a brother and sister, were beaten up, and even hospitalized.
"It is frightening," police chief Matt Doering said.
Doering said robberies like this in Brunswick are rare, but everyone's worst nightmare.
"Can you imagine coming home and you think you're safe and secure where everybody should be in their homes?" he said. "Last thing on your mind is somebody unwanted in your home."
So now he's looking for the public's help.
The victims are looking for justice.
"If you could say something to these guys?" Rebecca said. "I hope you get caught. I hope you spend the rest of your life in prison. I hope you get what you deserve. I hope they burn in prison."
