POSTED: Friday, July 3, 2009

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a traffic fatality that happened on the Fuller Warren Bridge Friday evening.

Troopers said two people in a Ford Expedition had pulled into the emergency lane of Interstate 95 southbound to assist another vehicle that was broken down. According to the FHP, an Audi driven by Aleksandra Kolesnik, 23, of Jacksonville, was passing when it veered into the emergency lane, sideswiping the car and hitting a passenger trying to get in the vehicle.

That passenger, whose name has not been released, died at the scene. No one else was hurt in the wreck.

Two southbound lanes were blocked for hours.

According to the FHP report, charges are pending against the driver of the Audi.
