Police: 3 Robbed Sandwich Delivery Person Early Sunday

FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. -

Two men have been arrested and one is still being sought in connection with an armed robbery at an apartment complex, Fernandina Beach police said.

Police said the men called the Philly Boyz Sandwich Shop for a delivery of two sandwiches. Officers said when the delivery person arrived at the Buccaneer Villas Apartment Complex on Lime Street early Sunday and approached the apartment door, he was confronted by an man wearing a face covering and brandishing a handgun.

Police said the victim was then forced into the apartment where another man searched his pockets and stole $140 in cash. Police said the victim was released by the suspects and ran out of the apartment to safety and summoned police for help.

He was not injured.

Police said Michael Hale, 18, of Yulee, was arrested after they said he admitted to calling the sandwich shop, saying that two accomplices instructed him to make the call on his cell phone and to arrange to have two sandwiches delivered.

Hale said that he saw the delivery person being robbed by the two other men before he fled the scene by vehicle, police said.

Hale is charged with armed robbery as a principal in the first degree. He is currently being held at the Nassau County Jail on a $50,000 bond.

Brandon Webster, 19, of Fernandina Beach, was later arrested and is facing a bond of $100,000.

Police said Daron Boyd, 18, of Fernandina Beach, remains at large.
