2 arrested after groups' argument leads to gunfire

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Gainesville Police Department is investigating a disturbance involving a firearm that occurred in a parking lot in the 3500 block of Windmeadows Boulevard just after midnight Monday.

Police called to a report of shots fired said that two groups of people got into an argument about one person stepping on the foot of another person.

The argument escalated to the point that 19-year-old Robert Morris retrieved a handgun and gave it to Zairon Fussell, police said. They said Fussell fired a single shot at the four victims standing in the parking lot. No one was hit or injured by the gunfire.

Morris was arrested on scene as an accomplice to the incident and charged with four counts of attempted murder and one count of conspiracy to commit murder. Fussell turned himself in Wednesday afternoon and was booked into the Alachua County jail.
