2 arrested after meth lab discovered in Southside motel

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – 2 people were arrested Sunday after a methamphetamine lab was discovered in a motel room in South Metro, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Officers responded to the Emerson Inn around 3 p.m. after an anonymous complaint about a foul odor coming from one of the rooms.

When officers knocked on the door, they say they found two people in the room, with materials used to make methamphetamine in plain view.

Officers said the odor coming from the room was so strong, they became lightheaded just standing outside the door.

Both people were arrested. Their identities were not immediately released.

Phillips Highway at South Bellair was closed for hours because teams were working the scene to remove hazardous materials.
