2 charged with killing man in San Marco in May

22-year-old who just graduated from FSCJ shot to death in car

Amanuel Kebede was found shot to death in his car late last month in San Marco.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Since May, when a 22-year on man was found shot to death in a car in San Marco, Jacksonville police have charged two men with robbery and murder.

Amanuel Kebede, 22, was found dead dead in car May 29 at the intersection of Ashland Street and St. Augustine Road.

Homicide investigators determined Kebede (pictured below) met D'On Jackson and Ronald Hardwick III for a marijuana deal and the three were in his car when a fight broke out. According to court records, a witness saw Jackson get out of the car and shoot Kebede.

Both Hardwick and Jackson were arrested in June.

Jackson, 20, is charged with second-degree murder and armed robbery. Hardwick, 21, is charged with third-degree murder and armed robbery.

Kebede moved to Florida from Ethiopia 14 years ago and had graduated from Florida State College at Jacksonville in the days before he was killed. His family said he was working as a clerk as a gas station and hoping to become an engineer.
