An off-duty Miami-Dade County correctional officer died Saturday after a shooting in front of his home in Miami Gardens, according to authorities.
Police said it happened along Northwest 27th Avenue and 211th Street at 7:50 p.m.
Detective Alvaro Zabaleta of the Miami-Dade Police Department said a motive was not immediately known.
The 46-year-old officer's name has not yet been released. Zabaleta said he worked at the Miami-Dade County Jail.
