2 killed, 2 injured in St. Johns County car crash

2 women killed, 1 man in critical condition

ST JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – Florida Highway Patrol says that two people were killed and two others were injured Saturday night in a car crash at Palatka Boulevard and Isaacson Avenue in St. Johns County.

Victoria Sutton, 20, was driving a Chevy Trial Blazer on Palatka Boulevard at 8:40 p.m. when a Ford pickup truck ran the stop sign at Isaacson Avenue and hit the Trail Blazer, according to witnesses.

Police said the crash caused the Trail Blazer into a ditch on the south side of Isaacson Avenue. According to officials, Sutton was taken to Putnam Community Medical Center, where she died from her injuries. One of her passengers, Katherine Stecker, 19, was pronounced dead on the scene. The other passenger, Alexander Koufodontis, 21, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

After the crash, the pickup truck spun around and came to rest in the ditch south of Palatka Boulevard, police said. The driver, Dalton Edwards, 20, was taken to UF Health Jacksonville with life-threatening injuries. He is listed in critical condition.

The investigation is still ongoing and charges are pending, according to police.
