GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Two Georgia men were arrested on drug-related charges early Thursday morning in Gainesville after fleeing police during a traffic stop, according to the Gainesville Police Department.
Rasheed R. Napier, 21, is charged with carrying a concealed firearm, possession of marijuana with intent to sell and possession of drug paraphernalia. Taqwan T. McCrary, 21, is charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting an officer, fleeing an officer and driving on a suspended license.

Both Napier and McCrary are from Perry, Georgia.
Police said an officer attempted to pull over a vehicle driven by McCrary for a lighting violation, but McCrary turned into the University Terrace West Apartments and attempted to flee through the complex. McCrary took a wrong turn and ended up at a dead end in the complex, police said. McCrary and Napier, who was a passenger in the vehicle, fled on foot.
The officer said he saw Napier take a bag with him from the vehicle and then toss the bag over a 6-foot fence that surrounds the complex. The officer chased Napier down and called for backup to continue the chase of McCrary, who was caught fleeing through a gate in the fence.
Officers found the bag Napier threw over the fence, which contained 164 grams of marijuana and a loaded .38-caliber revolver. McCrary also had $1,534 and 1 gram of marijuana in his possession, police said.
