2 men sentenced in child sex cases

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two Jacksonville men were sentenced Thursday in two separate child sex cases.

Edwin Schonfeld, 69, was sentenced to mandatory life in prison for sexually abusing two young girls. In May, Schonfeld was convicted of two counts of sexual battery and two counts of lewd or lascivious molestation.

In 2012, it was discovered that the two female victims had been abused repeatedly by Schonfeld over a four-year period. The abuse started when the victims were 5 years old.

Meanwhile, Kevin Elliot (pictured), 49, was sentenced to 30 years in prison on one count of sexual battery. He was also designated as a sexual predator.

In July 2012, the victim disclosed that she and Elliott had engaged in inappropriate sexual activity. The investigation revealed that in 2010, Elliott had sex with the victim, who was 16 years old at the time.
