2 missing adults, 3 children found safe

Clay County deputies say missing women, children located in North Carolina

GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. – The Clay County Sheriff's Office said they have found the two adults and three children that went missing on Wednesday.

Those that went missing include 22-year-old Brittany Miller-Leichty, her 5-year-old son Alexzander Rodgers, 34-year-old Thelma Leichty, and her daughters Kelly Barnard, 7, and Caitlyn Barnard, who is 12.

CCSO said the group of individuals were located in North Carolina safe and in good health Saturday evening. They said a detective is communicating information to the authorities there for follow up.

Brittany and Thelma are sisters-in-law according to CCSO. They reside in the St. Johns Landing Apartments with their children and their husbands, Jacob and Joshua Leichty.

CCSO said their agency was initially contacted by the women's husbands, who reported that their wives had been exhibiting strange behavior for several weeks.

The two husbands told CCSO they were concerned for their welfare and the safety of the three children.

DCF had confirmed that DCF was working with the families prior to them leaving the area and noted strange behavior from the women.

Authorities said it appeared, based on the investigation thus far, that no one had heard from anyone in this group since Wednesday. Detectives said they have been in contact with relatives in North Carolina, who said they had not seen or heard from them either.

CCSO said family members have been notified that the individuals were located.
