ORLANDO, Fla. – Two children, ages 7 and 13, were shot and a third suffered powder burns to his face when a teenage neighbor accidentally fired a gun in the driveway of an Orlando home, Orange County sheriff's deputies said.

The shooting happened around 10:20 p.m. Sunday in the 4600 block of Alrix Drive.

Deputies told WKMG-TV a teen was showing off a gun in front of a home as several children gathered around. The gun went off, striking the 13-year-old boy in the hand and the 7-year-old girl in the foot, deputies said. Their 9-year-old brother suffered an injury to his face, deputies said.

All three children were treated at a hospital and released.

"My daughter started screaming, 'Mom, mom, mom, mom,'" Mary Digiovani said. "I came running out of the house and she was over on the side of the house by the car, and blood was just pooling under her foot."

The teen who fired the gun was taken into custody, but it's not known if he will face any charges.

"I don't know what made him pull a gun out in front of a bunch of little kids," said Brian Birdsong, the victims' father said. "There (were) more little kids than bigger kids."

"It hasn't hit me yet that this could have been such a disaster," Digiovani said.
