2 shot during 'juvenile' party at armory

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two people were shot and taken to the hospital Saturday after a shooting during a 'juvenile' party at a National Guard Armory on the Westside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Police said it was a private party being held at the armory located on Normandy Boulevard. A lieutenant was contacted about a possible shooting that was going to take place.

The event's promoter, ForeverTurnt Entertainment, was contacted by JSO and offered emergency off duty officers. Police said the promoter declined and stated it had private security already at the event.

Two officers were still stationed in the median outside the event and began assisting traffic leaving the event at about 11:15 p.m. Police said multiple shots were fired while officers were present, but they weren't able to locate a shooter or shooters.

The two people hit by gunfire were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Their identities were not released.
