2 units damaged, cat dies in apartment fire in Orange Park

ORANGE PARK, Fla. – Firefighters put out a fire at an apartment complex in Orange Park Friday evening.

Clay County Fire Rescue responded to the Jefferson Square Apartments on Ticonderoga Trail at 7:22 p.m.

Fire rescue officials said everyone got out safely, but one cat died.

Officials said it took about 26 firefighters to put out the fire and two apartments were damaged.

Two families were displaced and the American Red Cross is assisting them, according to CCFR.

Firefighters said they want to remind residents to always use and properly check your smoke doctors.
