Deputies responded to a report of a robbery just before noon in the parking lot of J. C. Penney. They said an 85-year-old woman told them she was approached by a woman as she was getting out of her car, and the woman asked for directions to State Road 312.

As the victim began to tell her, deputies said Adkins forcefully knocked the victim to the ground, causing her to drop her wallet. Deputies said Adkins picked up the wallet and fled into a waiting SUV.

The victim refused medical attention at the time.

A 65-year-old St. Johns County woman identified the vehicle and license plate of the suspects' vehicle, and deputies found the SUV at a gas station at State Road 207 and Interstate 95 a short time later.

Deputies said Adkins was positively identified by the victim, and the two suspects were taken into custody.

Bond was set at $11,500 for Adkins and $9,500 for Crow following a first appearance hearing Thursday morning.
