2 women sought in mall purse theft

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – Two woman are being sought in connection with the theft of a woman's purse earlier this month at the Gap Outlet in the St. Augustine Outlet Mall.

The victim and her family were in the store at 4:15 p.m. Aug. 8. The woman's husband was pushing a stroller that contained the victim's purse underneath in the baby apparel section, St. Johns County deputies said.

They said one of the thieves distracted the man while the second removed the purse, as seen on surveillance video.

The thieves then removed the victim's iPhone and $16 in cash and left the purse on one of the store racks nearby.

The thieves were described as two white women. One was wearing dark blue pants, a white blouse, tennis shoes, and had long dark hair. The second was wearing a long, white print dress, black sweater, a dark ball cap and white sandals.
