Police say a 20-year-old man stabbed another man to death during an argument early Saturday morning.
According to the arrest report, an argument between Shea Caret-Strong and 21-year-old Michael Wilson just after 3 a.m. escalated to a physical confrontation. Investigators says that when Wilson got his his car and tried to leave, Caret-Strong got in the passenger side of the car and stabbed Wilson multiple times.
Police said Caret-Strong continued stabbing Wilson until he was pulled away by eyewitnesses.
Paramedics were called, but Wilson was declared dead at the scene, at the intersection of North Jackson Avenue and Texas Street, near Thomas Jefferson Elementary School.
Detectives said one other person was transported to Shands Jacksonville Medical Center, but that person's name and condition were not released.
Police arrested Caret-Strong on a charge of murder later that day and booked him into the Duval County jail.
On Tuesday, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office announced the arrest.
Neighbors told Channel 4, Wilson was stabbed above his eye with a screwdriver. They said the victim tried to drive away in his car, but crashed nearby.
"Probably about twice a week there?s a huge fight down there," said Derek Baker who lives up the street from where the killing happened. He said the neighborhood's gotten dangerous and he's not surprised something bad happened.
?(The crime) concerns me because of the students coming on Monday," said Dina Hull, who teaches at Jefferson Elementary.
Caret-Strong was not given a bond. His next court date is scheduled for Aug. 31.
