PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- A precautionary boil order has been issued for areas of southernmost Sawgrass communities and all associated subdevelopments east of State Road A1A in Ponte Vedra Beach. The St. Johns County Utility Department reported a water main break. It is estimated that 500 homes will be affected by the water main break.
St. Johns County released some of the names of the streets impacted by the boil water notice. They include the following:
Birkdale Lane, Carriage Lane, Club View Court, Country Club Boulevard, Cove Road, Deer Run Drive, Deer Run Drive South, Deer Run Lane, Fishermans Cove Road, Golf Club Drive, Greenside Court, Harbor Club Drive, Lake Julia Drive North and South, Lake Kathryn Drive, Lighthouse Bend Drive, Lighthouse Cove Place, Little Bay Harbor Drive, Longboat Court North, Longboat Court South, Marsh Lake Place, Northgate Drive, Old Barn Court, Old Barn Road east and West, Osprey Court, Osprey Point, Portsmouth Court, Preston Trail East, Preston Trail West, Quail Pointe Court, Quail Pointe Drive, Sanpiper Cove, Sanpiper Court, Sawgrass Corners Drive, Sawgrass Drive, Sawgrass Drive East, Sea Island Drive, Sea Island Lake Court, South Hampton Court, South Nine Drive, South Nine Lake Circle, Spyglass Lande, Sunngale Drive, Tifton Way, Tifton Way South, Troon Terrace, Village Walk Circle, Village Walk Drive, Village Walk Lane, Walkers Ridge Drive, Walkers Ridge Court, Willow Pond Lane.
St. Johns County cautions that all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth or washing dishes should be boiled. They recommend a rolling boil of one minute is sufficient.
The boil order will remain in effect until bacteriological surveys show that the water is safe to drink and a retraction notice is posted, which is typically a minimum of two days. Citizens can call 904-209-2731 for up-to-date information.
