2015 is another record year for GATE River Run signups

More than 16,000 people will run the March 14 race

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Organizers of the 38th annual GATE River Run on March 14  say it's shaping up to be another record year for participation.

"So far 2015 is on pace with near-record growth with more than 16,000 entries to date, and our elite field is star-studded with the top American distance runners," race director Doug Alred said.

  He said the elite field in the USA 15K Championship includes:

Three Olympians

Two past GATE River Run champions including 2013 champ Ben True, and three-time Champion and 2015 Hall of Fame Inductee Jen Rhines

2015 U.S. Cross-Country champion Laura Thweatt

5 National Champions

14 competitive teams from seven states vying for the TenBroeck Cup

Race day enhancements include livestreaming results on News4Jax.com, instant results, and live runner tracking on the 1st Place Sports app (a free download from iTunes or Google Play).  Live results will be posted from the 5K, 10K and finish timing points.

Last year more than 23,000 runners and walkers participated in the day's five events, making the event Jacksonville's largest participatory sporting event.  The popular Jacksonville tradition starts and finishes at the Jacksonville Sports Complex.  The event is hosted by JTC Running.

Registration closes online and at 1st Place Sports stores on March 10 or when the race reaches its 20,000 limit; Registration will be available at the Runners Expo March 13 – 14 if the race does not fill before then.
