A joint effort from several law enforcement agencies might have cracked a cold case in Hawthorne.

Authorities have charged Eddie Gillins Jr., 54, of Hawthorne and William Leander Bascomb, 39, with the 2003 murder of Wayne “Frog” Hutchinson. Hutchinson was found lying dead near a storage container in Hawthorne.

Efforts of the Alachua County Sheriff's Office, U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, and Putnam County Sheriff’s deputies all assisted in making the arrests.

Both men are being held in the Alachua County jail on $750,000 bond.
