Sheriff Joins National Night Out Events

JSO Planning Neighborhood Watch Programs

A national movement to help law-abiding people keep crime out of their neighborhoods will bring people together Tuesday night.

National Night Out for Neighborhood Watch sponsors where various events to help raise awareness about crime and drug prevention and strengthen police-community partnerships.

Last year, 37 million people in 15,000 communities participated in National Night Out events.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and other law enforcement agencies support the event and Sheriff John Rutherford will visit events at Fort Carolina Club Estates, R.V. Daniel Elementary School, a Springfield Preservation and Restoration event on North Main Street and at a home on Fontainebleau Crescent.

Other JSO officials plan to visit more than a dozen other neighborhood gatherings.
