Donald J. Smith's first arrest appears to be in 1977 for lewd and lascivious assault in the presence of a child under 16.  He served a year in the Duval County Jail, then placed on probation as a "mentally disordered sex offender."

He was arrested in 1981 for violating that probation and served 14 months in prison.

Smith was convicted in 1992 on multiple counts of attempted kidnapping and providing obscene materials to minors and served 5½ years.

In 2003, Smith was sentenced to 2½ years on charges of trafficking in stolen property and providing false information to a pawnbroker.  The Florida Department of Corrections photo, above, was taken just before his release from that incarceration
