Marine Dies After Parachute Doesn't Deploy

WAUCHULA, Fla. -- Authorities said a Marine has died from injuries sustained when his parachute didn't open during a training exercise in Hardee County.According to a release from the sheriff's office, the Marines were jumping from a C130 aircraft Thursday when someone called 911 to report that a Marine's parachute didn't deploy.Sgt. Jeremiah D. McGraw was taken to Florida Hospital Wauchula, where he was pronounced dead. The 22-year-old Boynton Beach resident was a Selected Reserve Marine assigned to 4th Air-Naval Gunfire Liaison Company in West Palm Beach.A joint investigation is being conducted by military personnel and the Hardee County Sheriff's Office.The training exercise was being held in the Peace River town of Wauchula.
