JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A jury on Thursday evening convicted Enrique Pajaro, 20, on charges of murder in the first degree and conspiracy to commit armed robbery in the 2012 murder of Robert Scott.

In March 2012, Pajaro and his co-defendant, Merienne Blake, arranged to meet the victim at Blake's home and get high. After Scott passed out from using drugs, Pajaro and Blake stole his drugs, smoked the drugs, and then attacked the victim while he was asleep.

Prosecutors say Pajaro hit the victim multiple times with a hammer. When Scott tried to defend himself, Pajaro choked him to death.

The victim's 3-year-old daughter was in the home at the time of the attack.
Murder and robbery charges against Blake are still pending.  She claimed self-defense, and a judge heard hear stand-your-ground claim last month, but has yet to rule on the motion.

According to the State Attorney's Office, Pajaro will be sentenced next week. Pajaro faces life in prison.
