JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Thursday afternoon, a new road will open on Jacksonville's westside, making things easier for drivers.
The new Cecil Commerce Parkway will link Interstate 10 with 103rd Street, near Chaffee Road. Right now, the most direct route between those two points is Chaffee Road, which is an older roadway.
The new road will be a four-lane, limited-access highway, which is expected to make for a speedier drive.
The $62 million project is also expected to promote economic development on the Westside, and provide a vital link to the Cecil Commerce Center from Interstate 10.
The road will also be known as State Road 23. This segment is part of the Brannan Field-Chaffee Expressway Project, which will provide a road linking parts of Duval and Clay counties, and is expected to relieve traffic on Blanding Boulevard, Chaffee Road, Normandy Boulevard and 103rd Street.
