Judge Cuts Quinn Gray's Bond To $200K

Ponte Vedra Beach Woman's Husband In Court To Show Support

POSTED: Friday, October 2, 2009
UPDATED: 6:49 pm EDT October 2, 2009

A judge has agreed to cut the bond set for a Ponte Vedra Beach woman accused of trying to extort $50,000 from her husband in what investigators called a fake kidnapping plot.

Gray, 37, was arrested more than two weeks ago on a charge of extortion resulting from what St. Johns County authorities said was a bizarre plot with a man she was having a sexual relationship with. She was ordered held on $1 million bond.

After Friday afternoon's hearing, Circuit Judge Wendy Berger agreed to lower Gray's bond to $200,000. Her release would also require several conditions, including GPS monitoring, surrendering her passport and immediate admission to St. Simons by the Sea mental-health facility until the court approves her release.

Yasmin Osmanovic, 25, is also charged with extortion -- a second-degree felony -- and still being held in jail. His bond remains $100,000.

Gray is the mother of two young children and lived with her husband in an oceanfront home in Ponte Vedra Beach.

Her husband, Reid -- the target of the extortion scheme -- was in court Friday to support efforts to get his wife released from jail.

"Here to show support, here to get her any type of help that she needs," Ried Gray said. "I want to have her for my children and my wife."

In court on Friday, Gray's attorney, Mark Miller, argued that Gray is not a threat to either the community or her family and is not a flight risk.
