Quinn Gray Released From Jail

Sheriff's Office: Gray Complied With Court Orders

Quinn Gray, the 37-year-old Ponte Vedra mother charged with extortion, was released from the St. Johns County jail at 5:01 p.m. Wednesday, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's office spokesman Sgt. Chuck Mulligan said Gray, who spent 21 nights in jail, complied with all orders placed by the court for her release.

Mulligan confirmed Gray found her passport -- one of the stipulations for her release was that she surrender her passport -- after her attorney told Channel 4 Tuesday her husband couldn't find it.

Another stipulation for Gray's release was that she be checked in to the St. Simons by the Sea mental health facility on St. Simons Island, where she was immediately taken following her release.

Mark Miller, Gray's attorney, said Gray will stay there until doctors feel she's gotten the treatment she needs and is ready to go home.

Whether or not she'll go home to her house on the beach in Ponte Vedra is something that hasn't yet been decided.

Officers arrested Gray on Sept. 16, five days after her husband reported her missing. She appeared before a St. Johns County judge the next day, accused of trying to extort $50,000 from her husband.

Gray remained in jail for four days even after the judge reduced her bond from $1 million to $200,000.

According to the sheriff's office, Gray got out of jail with help from bail bondsman Ann Teague, whose office is in downtown Jacksonville. Gray's family posted $20,000, or 10 percent, of her bond.

The sheriff's office said Teague and Miller went to the jail together Wednesday to get her released.

Gray was released wearing a GPS ankle bracelet.

Among other conditions that were to be met for Gray to be released were that she not use alcohol or drugs, not own or use a gun and not have any contact with her children until she has a psychological and psychiatric evaluation.
