BRADFORD COUNTY, Fla. -- A former president of the North Florida Regional Chamber of Commerce was arrested Wednesday on an outstanding charge of fraudulently obtaining property.
According to the Bradford County Sheriff's Office, Ron Lilly was apprehended in a shed at his home in Keystone Heights.
Lilly, 58, who was fired from the Chamber position last November, has been under investigation for the past year by the Starke Police Department.
Investigators said he defrauded the chamber of nearly $20,000 by having checks written to him and buying a golf cart, which he later sold.
"Lilly's arrest has been a long time coming," said Sheriff Gordon Smith. "He has been accused of betraying the trust of this community and will now be afforded the opportunity to defend his actions within the justice system."
Lilly was booked into the Bradford County Jail and held on a $75,000 bond.
