JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Congresswoman Corrine Brown said Thursday she is still exploring the possibility of a run for the U.S. Senate.
Her exploratory committee raised nearly $500,000 in the third quarter of this year.
She formed the committee in June to look at the possibility of campaigning for the seat just vacated by Sen. Mel Martinez.
The leading Democrat in the race, south Florida Congressman Kendrick Meek, has not yet announced his third-quarter fundraising total.
Gov. Charlie Crist raised $2.4 million during the three-month span.
His Republican challenger, former State House speaker Marco Rubio, raised more than $1 million this quarter.
