JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- You may have heard of the Burrito Gallery, a popular place to grab food on the go downtown.
Now the owners of that restaurant have moved uptown. They have a new place in the historic Springfield neighborhood.
It's called Uptown Market BLD -- Breakfast Lunch and Deli -- and it's a dine-in and dine-out café.
For less than $10, you can sit down at the cozy eatery for crepes, breakfast burritos, juevos and homon.
Diners can purchase specialty food items and wine. It's a unique dining concept and a positive sign of business growth in Springfield.
"When it comes to the newer Springfield, if you want to call it that, I'd say maybe we're more pioneers," the restaurant's co-owner Marco Monroy said.
Uptown Market, located at the intersection of Third and Main streets, was launched by the owners of the Burrito Gallery. The restaurant, along with its neighbor, City Kidz Ice Cream, is a part of a new wave of commercial and residential development in the neighborhood.
The ice cream café and Uptown Market are the first commercial construction projects in the area over the past 40 years.
But commercial life still lags behind residential, which has been on an upswing over the past five years.
"As I said, we all live in the neighborhood," Monroy said. "I know a lot of our neighbors, and they'd been supporting us at the Burrito Gallery, and they were happy for us to bring something into Springfield.
Uptown Market's owners said the upscale eatery will be a welcome addition to the neighborhood, especially for Springfield's newest residents.
What's next? A second market downtown and maybe even a Burrito Gallery close to the beaches.
If you plan on stopping by, Uptown Market is open between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. on weekdays and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekends.
