A Palatka couple was arrested and their two children taken in to protective custody Wednesday evening after deputies said a search of their home turned up a hidden room containing dozens of marijuana plants being grown, along with materials used to cultivate marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Members of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and members of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's Tri-County Drug Task Force searched the home of Elmer and Deanna Norris at 4001 Silver Lake Drive after an investigation of drug activity at the home.
Deputies reported finding 42 marijuana plants in the hidden room, along with other contraband.
Elmer Norris, 38, and Deanna Norris, 30, were arrested on charges of trafficking in cannabis and possession of narcotic equipment.
The children were released into the custody of family members.
