JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A group of dedicated runners is getting ready to "go the distance" to celebrate the 55th birthday of Wolfson Children's Hospital.
They'll be running an ultra marathon -- 55 miles.
Avid runner Paul Wilson came up with the idea of a long run to honor the hospital while his son Luke was being treated there for spina bifida a little more than a year ago.
He was talking with his son's doctor, who is also a runner, about the idea, but neither one realized what they were getting themselves into.
Each of the 55 mile markers along the course will honor a child that's been helped by Wolfson.
Channel 4 meteorologist Richard Nunn is one of the five runners taking part in the ultra marathon, which will be at the end of January.
He's run a few marathons but hasn't run an ultra marathon yet.
Channel 4 is a proud sponsor of the ultra marathon.
