Motorcyclist Dies After Hit By Pickup

Crash Happened In 14000 Block Of Normandy Boulevard

A motorcyclist was hit by a pickup truck on the Westside late Wednesday afternoon and later died at Shands.

The Florida Highway Patrol said Paul Van Degrift, 54, of Middleburg, was hit from behind by the pickup and ejected from the motorcycle. He was not wearing a helmet.

The crash happened in the 14000 block of Normandy Boulevard west of the Equestrian Center.

Troopers said they are still investigating to determine the cause of the crash.

Charges are pending against the 18-year-old driver of the pickup.
