JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The U.S. House is expected to vote on a historic health care reform bill on Saturday.
The bill is nearly 2,000 pages long.
Channel 4 contacted the area representatives to see if they've read the bill.
Rep. Ander Crenshaw said he's read the first bill and is reading the second bill. The Republican plans to vote no.
Democrat Rep. Corrine Brown said she's read portions of the bill. She admitted she hasn't read the entire thing, but is going through it section by section and speaking with experts.
She also said she's had leaders from Shands and various businesses speak with her about how health care reform might affect them.
Republican Rep. John Mica is going through the entire bill along with his staff. He said he's read about half of it so far and is working on the rest.
Mica said he's trying to compare it to the original bill introduced in July.
A spokesman for Republican Rep. Cliff Stearns said he was on the committee that wrote the original bill and he read that one. He opposes the pending legislation.
He said he is reading the new bill and plans to read all of it or as much as he can.
Rep. Jack Kingston of Georgia said he's reading the bill and plans to read all of it with the help of his staff.
