Three people were shot early Sunday morning outside the American Legion post in Lake City and the Columbia County Sheriff's Office has named a 19-year-old suspect in the case.
The sheriff's office said it believes Johnny Lee Collins fired several shots about 1 a.m. at the post at 367 N.E. Bond St., seriously injuring a woman and striking two other people.
Deputies have not named the victims, but said the woman with the most serious injury was taken by air ambulance to Shands Medical Center in Gainesville. A man who was injured was treated at Lake Shore Hospital in Lake City, then transferred to Shands-Gainesville. Another victim was grazed by a bullet and did not require hospitalization.
Authorities said all the victims were expected to recover from their injuries.
Deputies said the motive for the shooting is still unclear, but deputies said Collins was seen fleeing from the scene.
Detectives gathered enough evidence to obtain an arrest warrant charging Collins with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Collins is described as a 19-year-old black man, 5 feet 8 inches tall weighing 165 pounds. Deputies said Collins should be considered armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Johnny Lee Collins is asked to call the Columbia County Sheriff's Office or Crime Stoppers of Columbia County 912-754-7099.
