Woman Brutally Attacked By 2 Men In Home

Police Arrest 16-Year-Old, 17-Year-Old

UPDATED: 8:18 pm EST November 11, 2009

Palatka police said a woman is recovering after two men brutally attacked her inside her home early Wednesday morning.

Investigators said two men barged into the 45-year-old's home in the 200 block of Redbud Lane when the victim was sleeping.

Police said 16-year-old Michael Galan and 17-year-old Jarve Green beat her up, robbed her, then stole her car.

Police said the two crashed their car into a telephone pole and then took off running.

Police said Galan was caught and arrested. They said Green was found at an apartment complex later Wednesday afternoon and arrested.

Both were arrested on charges of home invasion robbery, aggravated battery and grand theft.

They said Galan knew the victim because he used to live in her neighborhood, and they said he was arrested on a charge of stealing her same car three weeks ago.

"He was picked up in her vehicle," said Asst. Chief James Griffith, with the Palatka Police Department. "He and another suspect were picked up when it was found."
