ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- A speeding car crashed into a building in St. Augustine overnight, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.
Just after 2 a.m. Friday, a sheriff's deputy clocked a car driving at a high rate of speed. When the deputy turned his car around, he said it was gone.
A short time later, a 911 call came in about a car that had crashed into Gail's Bail Bonds in the 100 block of Masters Drive.
Police said the driver took off on foot after leaving the car, which heavily damaged the building.
Florida Power and Light had cut the power to the building because of the damage.
The sheriff's office was still looking for the driver early Friday.
