A pedestrian was hit and killed by a car early Friday on Lem Turner Road on the Northside, according to Jacksonville Fire and Rescue.

The crash happened just after 5:30 a.m. on Lem Turner Road just north of Braddock Road, west of Jacksonville International Airport.

Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Bill Leeper said 58-year-old Franklin Lee Fox of Jacksonville was crossing Lem Turner Road when he was hit by a northbound car.

According to the accident report, a car driven by Kelley Andrews, 28, of Callahan, struck Fox, then came to a stop on the shoulder of the road.

Troopers said blood-alcohol tests were performed on both Fox and Andrews and the incident remains under investigation.

Lem Turner Road was closed in both directions in the area through about 8 a.m.
