St. Augustine Police Officer Injured In Crash

POSTED: Sunday, November 22, 2009
UPDATED: 5:10 pm EST November 22, 2009

Florida Highway Patrol investigators are trying to determine just what caused a driver to lose control of their car and slam into a St. Augustine Police Department SUV Sunday morning.

Authorities said the accident happened around 11:30 a.m. Sunday near Orange Street and U.S. 1 in St. Augustine. An SAPD spokesman confirmed that the officer was injured, but that her injuries were not considered to be life-threatening. She was transported to Flagler Hospital with injuries to her neck and back.

Because the accident involved a law enforcement officer, the FHP was handling the investigation.
