JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Stephen Edmonds pleaded guilty to Friday morning to charges involving sex, pornography and teenage boys.
Edmonds, the former president of the Northeast Florida Builders Association and a former deacon of First Baptist Church, pleaded guilty to three counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child.
As part of a plea agreement, 10 other counts were dropped.
Edmonds was arrested on April 15, 2002, with police saying he molested a 15-year-old boy and sent him explicit messages over the Internet.
Following his initial arrest, police seized two computers from his home and began investigating additional molestation claims. More charges were filed two weeks later.
The guilty plea came after prosecutors said they planned to introduce a transcript they say is from a telephone conversation between Edmonds and a teenage victim.
Channel 4 petitioned the court to obtain that transcript.
"Wasn't I fifteen when you ... grabbed me?," the voice said to Edmonds. Prosecutors say Edmonds replied "Yea, but you -- it was fine. It wasn't no big deal, was it?"
Edmonds runs The Edmonds Co. of North Florida. He resigned his position as president of the Northeast Florida Builders Association and as a deacon of First Baptist Church following his arrest.
Edmonds faces up to six years in prison on the three counts. An attorney for the victims says they hope the judge will sentence Edmonds to significant amount of time in jail.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on June 27.
