The 911 calls from a hit-and-run crash on the Buckman Bridge last month that killed a local mother were released Friday afternoon.

The Florida Highway Patrol said Luma Kajy, 41, was killed when another car hit her SUV, causing it to flip over and plummet 100 feet off the bridge and into the St. Johns River.

Troopers arrested Sasha Pringle, 31, and charged her with DUI manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident causing a death. She's being held on $1 million bond.

Steve Kohn, a witness who said he saw the crash, called 911 twice, once before the crash to report he saw someone who appeared to be driving drunk and then a second time after the crash.

"An SUV just flipped over the Buckman Bridge," Kohn told a dispatcher. "Somebody flipped over and landed in the river. ... It's in the water. They're going to need to fish that SUV or whoever's driving it out of the river."

Kohn said he followed Pringle for more than 20 miles before she stopped at an apartment complex, where she was later arrested.

Several other unnamed witnesses also called 911 before the bridge crash to report a motorist who appeared to be driving drunk and was driving all over the road. The calls totaled 27 minutes.
