Teen Killed After Dispute At Mandarin Party

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A 19-year-old was killed outside a party in Mandarin Saturday night, and police say he probably wasn't the intended target.
Authorities said Tavoris Jones (pictured, left) was shot in the back as he ran from a gunman as he left the party.
Apparently Jones' brother had gotten into an argument with some girls at the party, and one of their friends pursued three men, including Tavoris Jones, with a gun.
"It's something you don't expect to see in this kind of neighborhood," Donna Moore said.
The man who owns the house where the party was held said it was supposed to be a small get-together for his son and some friends, but word got out and many more teenagers showed up.
The father told Channel 4's Scott Johnson that he has been in touch with the Jones family to extend their condolences and ask if there's anything they can do.
Police believe the suspect left sped away from the scene in an older model mint-green four-door sedan with spinning or gold rims and a large TV mounted between the front and back seats.
Investigators describe the suspect as an 18-year-old black man, nearly 6 feet tall, weighing 160 pounds. His hair is said to be braided into a ponytail and has lots of small bumps on his face. They said he has tattoos on the left side of his neck and left bicep.
Police are asking anyone at that party on Chestnut Lake Drive to come forward and provide information that could help locate the person who shot and killed Jones.
