ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -

For two weeks at Dr. Bradley Cherry's dentist office, it has not been business as usual.

Every 45 seconds, the receptionist takes a call with an explicit recording from a sex hot line.

"And then you listen to it and you're like, 'Oh my God,'" receptionist Tiffany Thompson said. "You hang up because you don't want those types of phone calls to your business."

An anonymous person tapped the dentist office's business line and cell phone with calls of a woman's voice offering sex.

"It is aggravating. It's kind of a nuisance," Cherry said. "You just can't get any work done because you still have to check to see if anybody is calling."

The staff said it's hard for patients and other doctors to get through.

Cherry started reaching out to doctors in the area, and that's when he realized that his colleague, Dr. Robert Thousand, was also a victim of this form of attack.

Although both victims are oral surgeons, Cherry doesn't think the obscene calls are aimed at dentists.

"I think they may have gotten a hold of one of our credit cards, or maybe they're targeting professionals in general," Cherry said. "Because it happened on my cell phone as well. And I know sometimes you buy things online and they'll ask you to put down your cell phone and maybe another contact number."

Both doctors have AT&T as their phone service. The phone company's Annoyance Call Bureau has yet to trace the caller.

Cherry said he's willing to go as far as the FBI to find out who's calling.

Cherry has reached out to AT&T and an investigator with the St. John's County Sheriff's Office, and he hasn't had any success yet. His next step is to reach out to a private investigator, but he hopes that before then, the calls will stop.
