Apache Helo Makes Emergency Landing In Maxville Field

MAXVILLE, Fla. -- An Army Apache helicopter made an emergency landing near the Duval-Clay county border Thursday, but flew back to its Cecil Commercial Center base under its own power after being checked by a mechanic.
The helicopter landed in a private field near Maxville after the pilot said he felt a vibration in the engine.
"We heard some loud noise and landed outside," resident Glenn Rafuse said. "To get one fly over, I mean, it happens all the time. Today, they came in our field.
The pilot told Rafuse he felt vibrations from the gun underneath the helicopter and had trouble maneuvering the helicopter -- all they could do is land.
"Once everything was done, they came up and did a couple circles and hovered around out in the field and took off and went about their way," Rafuse told Channel 4 photojournalist Carlos Bouvier.
