Clay County investigators questioned and released a woman in connection with the fatal shooting of her former boyfrie nd, who died of gunshot wounds over the weekend.

Danny Norman, 54, was found shot in the head and chest inside an Orange Park home just after 7:30 p.m. Friday. He was taken to Orange Park Medical Center, then flown by air ambulance to Shands-Jacksonville Medical Center, where he later died.

The owner of the home where the shooting occurred, Lynda Rector, 53, told investigators that she and Norman had dated in the past. Deputies believe that an altercation may have led to the shooting.

Neither Rector nor Norman have criminal record in Clay County, and detectives continue to investigate.
