Deputies said the animals appeared to be malnourished, in poor health and confined without sufficient food, water or space.

The animals were taken to an undisclosed farm, where they will be cared for, housed and fed, deputies said. They will be in the custody of the Sheriff's Office pending disposition by the court. A hearing will
be held within 30 days for final disposition, deputies said.

They said the animals will remain the property of the homeowners pending the final disposition.

Deputies said complaint affidavits were signed and arrest warrants obtained against the homeowners, Tammy Denes and Donald Dunbar, both 40, who are charged with 39 counts of animal cruelty.
