The cause of the collapse remains under investigation.
The MDC campus was evacuated because of its proximity to the garage. The campus will be closed through at least the end of the week, according to a spokesperson for MDC. No students or staff were injured.
Northwest 115th Avenue between 34th and 41st Street will remain closed throughout the week.
Officials with MDC said the garage, which was to have about 1,800 spaces, had been under construction for about five months without incident. It was to create more parking for the 5,000 students on campus.
According to The Reporter, the MDC's student newspaper, the $24 million parking garage broke ground in February and was expected to be completed in late December.
